It has been almost a year since TentED launched as an independent not-for-profit, and as part of the process of shaping an effective organization and a compelling brand, we are thrilled to unveil a new logo. Like our messaging, we wanted an image that is plain-spoken, and one that invites those who visit our site to learn more about the education opportunities TentED makes possible for refugee children through partnerships.
When we approached Hellene London at BrandSciencia about developing a logo, we thought we knew what we did not want – a logo that incorporated a graphic tent in the design. Hellene listened and then skillfully led us through a process of understanding what we responded to and homing in on who we are as an organization and what effective imagery for TentED, a not-for-profit that advances education for children displaced by war, might look like.
The result, we think, is approachable and engaging. Not all the beneficiaries of TentED education efforts live in tents in refugee communities, but all have been uprooted from their homes and sometimes homelands, too, and all are starting anew to shape “home” and to piece together their lives to include essentials like education for children. To us, the tent design illustrates the temporary nature of life for those who have fled war and terrorism, but it is also welcoming, safe and hopeful.
July will mark our first full year as an independent organization. In that time, we have raised close to $50,000 and contributed to education opportunities for hundreds of children. We could not have done any of this without wonderful supporters, who follow our progress and respond when we ask for funds to help more children get back to the business of being children. Unlike the temporary nature of a tent, we are dedicated to fostering lasting change in the lives of children who have been displaced. Thank you for joining us in our efforts!
